High summer in River Bluffs, Indiana, is always sweltering and sweet. But the heat is really on when a decidedly dead body turns up in the neighborhood.

When established house flippers Jazzi Zanders and her cousin Jerod donate a week’s worth of remodeling work to Jazzi’s sister Olivia, they’re expecting nothing more than back-breaking roofing work and cold beers at the end of each long, hot day. With Jazzi’s live-in boyfriend and partner Ansel on the team, it promises to be a quick break before starting their next big project—until Leo, an elderly neighbor of Olivia’s, unexpectedly goes missing . . .

When the friendly senior’s dog tugs Jazzi and the guys toward the wetlands beyond Olivia’s neighborhood, they stumble across a decomposing corpse—and a lot of questions. With Jazzi’s pal Detective Gaff along to investigate, Jazzi finds her hands full of a whole new mystery instead of the usual hammer and nails. And this time it will take some sophisticated sleuthing to track down the culprit of the deadly crime—before the killer turns on her next . . .

~ Guest Post ~

Hi! I’m Judith Post, and I write cozy mysteries under the pen name Judi Lynn. My second Jazzi Zanders mystery, The Body in the Wetlands, was just released. I never thought about it, but when my sister Mary read the first book in the series, she called and teased me. “How did you end up with so many blondes in your mystery?”
Everyone close to me knows that I have a fondness for red hair. That’s why, now that I’m going gray, I have auburn hair right out of a box. Nature didn’t give it to me, so I did it myself. If I could, I’d have the wild red curls of Princess Merida in the Disney move BRAVE. But Mary’s a blonde, and so are my two daughters. And yes, they tolerated all of the blond jokes when they were growing up. Still get them occasionally. And believe me, they got old. But every blonde I’ve ever known has been sharp and capable. They just LOOK sweet and innocent. So, when I was thinking about Jazzi and her sister, Olivia, and their mom—well, they made me think of my girls and Mary. And as for Ansel? I watched the movie The Thirteenth Warrior one time too many and was secretly fantasizing about Vikings. That’s why I made Ansel white-blond with Norwegian genes.
I found a picture on that made me think of Jazzi—a girl with thick, wavy blond hair and blue eyes, and I printed it out to tape over my work desk so that when I look up, I see her. Thankfully, I found it before I started writing about her. I’m not usually lucky at finding photos once I start writing. I’m too picky. I know exactly what they look like in my mind, and no poor model can exactly replicate that. And the longer I write about them, the pickier I get.
