Lucille Pfiffer sees, but not with her eyes. She lives with her beloved dog Vanilla (“Nilla” for short) in a cozy neighborhood that is quite “active” due to what occurred in the distant past. Though totally blind, she plays an integral role in helping to solve pressing and puzzling mysteries, one right after the other, which, without her, might remain unsolved.

The question is: How can she do any of that with such a handicap?

Please welcome Tanya to I’m All About Books today.

Hi Tanya and welcome. Could you please tell my readers how some plots are created?

I grew up on the island of New Providence in The Bahamas where there are beautiful beaches, a warm, tropical climate, and friendly people. I remember having lots of adventures when I was a child; there was hardly ever a dull moment. Those were the days when kids went outside and played in their front yard and even in the street without fear of being kidnapped or getting run over by a speeding vehicle. Everyone knew everyone else in the neighborhood and just about all of the children played together. There were no hand-held games back then, no cell phones with fun apps; it was the regular “bat & ball”, shooting marbles (yes, I did that with my brother); playing “Hopscotch”, making paper boats and letting them set sail in the bathtub and even in puddles of water outside after the rain. Those days were fun-filled and can never be forgotten.

One of my brothers and I often wandered off to a huge property not far from where we lived. On it was a large, abandoned house surrounded by countless fruit trees and we used to take it upon ourselves to climb some of those trees and pick whatever we wanted. My brother was usually the designated climber and I was the fruit catcher. Looking at the two-story house with broken glass windows, doors that were hanging at the hinges—a massive structure sitting there all neglected, piqued my curiosity. I started writing stories from I was around seven years old or younger and seeing that house in such a state gave me an idea for a ghost story with a paranormal romance theme. My book CORNELIUS, book one of The Cornelius Saga series was birthed from my childhood experiences on that property and eventually became my first Amazon #1 Bestseller. Now my latest book and beginning of a brand new cozy mystery series BLIND SIGHT (book one of the Lucille Pfiffer Mystery series) launched as a #1 new release on Amazon and top 100 in its categories. This book was inspired by the fact that my father had Glaucoma and I often prayed that he’d never go blind. Thankfully, he didn’t.

I would say that personal experiences, be it from childhood or adulthood can play a significant role in creating the plots that an author weaves. They open up oceans full of creative possibilities to entertain readers worldwide. I couldn’t hope for a better profession.
